Our Story

The Old Cider Press Barn exterior

The Old Cider Press Barn is a lovingly restored 200-year-old barn conversion that stands proudly in the beautiful rolling countryside of Mid Wales. As its name suggests, the property was once home to the original cider press, which can still be seen as you approach the barn, serving as a reminder of its rich agricultural heritage.

Owned and managed by Terry and Lynda Evans, this magnificent building has been meticulously transformed from its former life as a working farm building into a luxury holiday accommodation that combines traditional charm with modern comfort.

Our journey began in 2020 when we embarked on the ambitious project to convert the historic barn into a special place where families and friends could gather to create unforgettable memories. The renovation was completed in 2022, with every effort made to preserve the building's character while incorporating luxurious modern amenities.

The Renovation Journey

The renovation of The Old Cider Press Barn was a labor of love that involved careful planning and attention to detail. We were committed to preserving as many original features as possible, including the exposed brick walls and magnificent wooden beams that give the barn its distinct character.

The double-height entertainment spaces were designed to create a sense of grandeur while maintaining the cozy, welcoming atmosphere that makes our guests feel at home. The bespoke steel and glass staircase serves as a striking focal point, beautifully blending modern design with the barn's traditional elements.

Throughout the renovation process, we worked with local craftspeople who shared our vision for creating a space that honors the past while embracing contemporary luxury. The handcrafted dining tables, for example, were made from reclaimed timber from the old barn, ensuring that its spirit lives on in the new space.

Terry and Lynda Evans, hosts of The Old Cider Press Barn

We are Terry and Lynda Evans, lifelong residents of Mid Wales with deep roots in the local farming community. The family has been farming in the Berriew area for generations, and we're passionate about sharing the beauty of the countryside with visitors from near and far.

As your hosts, we take great pride in ensuring that every aspect of your stay at The Old Cider Press Barn exceeds your expectations. From the moment you arrive to a warm Welsh welcome (often including Lynda's homemade Welsh cakes and mince pies!) to the thoughtfully equipped kitchen and luxurious bedrooms, the aim is to create a home away from home where you can relax, reconnect, and make wonderful memories.

We live nearby on the working farm and are always on hand to help with any questions or to offer recommendations for local attractions, restaurants, and activities. Guests often tell us that the personal touches and attention to detail make their stay extra special, and nothing makes us happier than seeing families and friends enjoying the space we've created.
